Karen Gomyo

The captivating violinist Karen Gomyo returns once again to enchant the DSO Guild’s members and guests, on November 20, this time at the Dallas Petroleum Club.

Born in Tokyo and raised in Montreal, Ms. Gomyo is certainly one of today’s most internationally-acclaimed, in-demand violinists. She began her studies at the age of 5; at 10 years, she began studying under the legendary Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School. She also studied privately in Vienna with celebrated cellist Heinrich Schiff.

Ms. Gomyo has performed with orchestras around the globe. During this past season alone, she appeared with the NY Philharmonic, New World Symphony, National Symphony Taiwan, Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Residentie Orkest in the Hague and the Helsingborg Symphony.

Ms. Gomyo is perfectly paired with the 1703 Stradivarius violin, the “Aurora, ex-Foulis”, purchased for her exclusive use by a private sponsor. She demonstrates her passion for a wide variety of music through such appearances as performance at the First Symposium for Victims of Terrorism at the UN headquarters; performance and narration in a documentary film about Antonio Stradivarius, and collaboration with longtime tango legend Pablo Ziegler, to celebrate her love of the Nuevo Tango music of Astor Piazzolla. In 2023, she joined IMG Artists’ roster for general management in association with Enticott Music Management.

Each season, she features a work written by a living composer. In 2024, she joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of Xi Wang’s YEAR 2020: Concerto for Violin, Trumpet and Orchestra, conducted by Fabio Luisi. This season, she will debut the DSO premiere of Samy Moussa’s “Adrano,” a violin concerto inspired by Moussa’s visit to Mount Etna, said to be home of the ancient fire god.
